Since 1904 the University of Oklahoma Bands have contributed to the collegiate spirit and cultural life on the Norman campus. The band program at OU provides enrichment for university events and serves as creative and emotional outlets for nearly 400 student-participants each year. 2008 Pride of Oklahoma Audition Orientation Session Registration is now available. Included in the sessions will be: master classes on the musical etudes, a marching session designed to acquaint you with our marching style (and the audition routine), and a question and answer session with student leaders and staff.
The first ever “Pride of Oklahoma Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held at the OU Jimmie Austin Golf Club, Saturday afternoon, June 21, 2008. This event will provide Pride staff and students the opportunity to interact with band alumni, supporters, and friends, while raising funds for the band scholarship endowment. A wide array of participation and sponsorship opportunities are available to fit virtually everyone’s interest and availability. Additionally, plans are being made for a “Dance Band Reunion” to be held in the evening following the tournament. OU Band Alumnus Joe Windes, and OU Band Alumnus/OU Jazz Ensemble Director, Jay Wilkinson are heading up this event. Stay tuned for more details!
Honors Wind Ensemble and Choir Camp - The University of Oklahoma's Honors Wind Ensemble and Choir Camp will be July 10-12, 2008. An intensive 3-day performance opportunity for high school students grades 9-12, who have made all-state, all-area, all-region bands and/or excellent/superior ratings at solo and ensemble contests.
